Amazing place. We will be back - Review
Wow, this place really is amazing. We originally booked as a family of 3 (2 adults & 13 year old) with a private pool & terrace. Then my... read more sister & her 2 girls (21 & 16) booked a family room with balcony. Then my daughter (20) also booked herself a double room. So we ended up being a party of 7.
After booking the holiday my sister found out she was allergic to peanuts & tree nuts. She carries epiPen’s everywhere she goes now & thought about cancelling her booking due to fear of having a reaction to anything (sun creams, certain oils, obviously food & people eating / using products near her were all issues). She was so anxious about everything. The chef went out of his way to reassure her she was safe & advised her what foods to avoid. He even prepared her a fresh meal when she became overwhelmed on our second night as some of the dishes had been garnished with walnut. We didn’t get the name of the chef (assume he’ll be head chef?) but he was fantastic & really helped us feel at ease.
The waiting staff & Front of House staff were all extremely friendly & helpful. Always had a smile & were very attentive. Andreas (hope I have spelt his name correctly), worth his weight in gold. Very helpful & always smiling. Nothing was too much trouble.
Housekeeping were, again, friendly & polite. Always smiling & saying hello. They couldn’t do enough for you. They service the rooms daily & they do such a fantastic job. The rooms are spotless.
Even the groundsmen & porters were always saying hello while making sure the outside areas were clean & free of clutter. We had a maintenance issue with the shower & told our housekeeper. When we returned from our day out it had fixed.
There are cat’s wandering around. We loved walking around with some cat biscuits we got from Lidl to feed them. They’re not neglected by any means & are quite common. The ones we encountered were well fed & quite friendly once they realised we had food haha.
The only negative we experienced was nothing to do with the hotel. We’d booked 2 excursions (scuba diving & a water park). We paid over £300 for these excursions. We all got confirmation emails & follow up emails reminding us of “what’s going to happen tomorrow!” Only to wake up on both the days to emails cancelling them & were told refunds could take upto 20 days! We looked into the water park as we were just going to get a taxi ourselves. Turns out it wasn’t even open until the following week yet TUI still had it advertised & took our money. We got our money back within 4 days & luckily it didn’t spoil anything. We’ll just not book them again & hire a car instead.
All in all 10 out of 10
We have already booked to return the same time next year
Perfect holiday - Arrived here at 2pm the receptionist asked us if we would like lunch before booking in as it would finish in 30 minutes. Plenty of choice and made welcome straight... read more away. Quickly booked in afterwards and shown to our rooms all on same block and floor near to pool. Rooms very clean and comfortable, one had a huge balcony, kettle for making drinks, always welcome, hair dryer in bathroom, safe in room for small charge. Food was good, different theme each night, snacks available during day along with drinks and ice cream at poolside bar. Larger glasses would have been welcome for beer but maybe being end of season they d run out. Our only complaint is the entertainment was in the restaurant and while it was good it was intrusive while you were trying to eat, the huge reception area is not used and would have been better for it, also a bar in there would be good, again it was end of season so maybe things are different in the summer but I would think the small pool bar would be overwhelmed at this time. Shop on site has range of gifts and essentials, not expensive like some we ve visited. Small local shops are down the hill, very friendly, the Sports bar was good but full of college kids at times. Beach is only a short walk and lovely but a bit steep coming back.
Chania is a beautiful place to visit, reception staff organised taxis for us, price varied from 8 to 13 euros but well worth it. Leather shops and ceramics, plenty of gift choices and everyone so friendly, plenty of places to eat and drink. Our grandson was lucky enough to spot a turtle swimming in harbour. Carriage ride was pleasant. The airport was a joy straight in and booked, in again it was end of season so maybe we were lucky, the weather was so kind to us as well 27 degrees for two days and 25 the rest. We will certainly think about coming back, thank you to all the staff for making our stay brilliant.
Thank you Sirios Hotel staff for providing an excellent experience for me and my father during our stay in Crete.
We also offer special thanks to Nikos, who... read more was kind and welcoming to us. We greatly appreciated his hospitality, and through him we got to learn a bit more about Greece.
